  1. The so called United Kingdom actually has FPTP except in Northern Ireland where there is PR in the form of AV. It tried to get PR under the STV but during the referendum the right-wing media shouted that it would lead to the disaster or permanent coalition government that many believed the lies & stuck with the status quo. Side note the example of Italy being flawed by constant coalitions is wrong since the stats show that the Italian economy has performed better than the UK since WW2. Also worth noting the Belgium with its coalitions had an impasse a few years back & was without a government for about 15 months as the parties couldn't agree & life went on. The US is the proverbial committee designing a horse and is overrun with camels. With 50 states trying to get consensus for change is virtually impossible on a national level.
