  2. Another reason the car is king in North America is that cars, until recently, have been cheap to buy and gas has been cheap. This means that in comparison to public transport the car's convenience of point to point transport has a very small premium when added to cheap and easily available parking. Come to the UK and in busy places there can be 3 cars for 1 parking spot add to that say a $10 charge for an evening or at the coast $25 for the day. (saying that, evry time the Conservatives are in power they cut the subsidy for all forms of public transport. Trains overcrowded? Put the fares up to reduce demand)

  3. Those bus seats look hard & uncomfortable. You didn't mention all the pollution those cars generate: the air quality must be poor.
