  1. The polluter doesn't pay. Big business is allowed to avoid tax. Tax on property is a mess: see Who Owns England? by Guy Shrubsole. Labour is still scared of the "Politics of envy" label and will not argue for a more progressive & fair taxation system. My little 997cc car has an exemption for Vehicle tax - that no longer applies if I sell it or buy a similar small engine car, meanwhile all the "Chelsea tractors" pay a pittance compare to the pollution they produce. How about no tax on aviation fuel? How many millions would 1% raise? Oh I hear you say, planes will just fill up in other countries. It costs the airlines money to fly with excess fuel/weight. Don't get me started about "ghost flights"
