Have you not heard of the maxim, "don't divided your forces in the face of an unknown enemy"? Of course it was Chelmsford's fault he was the commander. Did you not listen, the pickets were too close to camp and the defence was mounted too far out. They assumed they weren't going to be attacked and so were unprepared. The soldiers ran out of ammunition and so a bayonet against an assagai = no contest .

Yes. This was highlighted in the film Zulu Dawn. The ammo boxes were metal banded and the lids screwed down. Only 1 screwdriver per company I believe and many sealed boxes were found after the battle.

Another average effort from the channel: 5 out of 10. It repeats all the things that are common knowledge & adds nothing new. Lubeck was targeted because of so many wooden building & it was on the coast thus easier to find as navigation was poor. No mention of the pathfinder force! No mention of the Handley Page Halifax that was more important than the Short Stirling. The British maintain the lie until the start of the Thousand bomber raids that it was only hitting military targets but it couldn't as only about 10% of bombs landed within 1 mile of the aiming point. No mention of the large quantity of duds dropped that is why the number of incendiaries used were increased. No mention of Prof. Lindermann(Viscount Cherwell) who was the main proponent of area bombing, along with Harris, to "dehouse" the German workers. The omissions continue. This programme could have been made 20 or 30 years ago.

@tr9809 Source? Not nails but screws and you have to be a fool to compare Isandlawana to Rorke's Drift. Standing orders was to only open 1 at a time.
