  2. Churchill's problem was that he thought he was as good at military matters as his ancestor, the Duke of Marlborough. So Greece & Crete was a self-inflicted wound, he sent men to Singapore straight into captivity, had the hubris to think that Prince of Wales & the Repulse would intimidate the Japanese into abandoning their plans thus losing 2 capital ships & their crews. It did not stop there! Lets not forget the fiasco that was the "soft underbelly of Europe" that was the invasion of Italy. Last but not least handing over Soviet prisoners of war to Stalin knowing that they would be killed because "he had given his word".
