The rise of the internet has empowered the stupid in the name of free speech: flat-earthers, conspiracy theorists, alien abduction, bigfoot, lizard overlords, the illuminati, the believe that George Soros is the devil incarnate but that the Koch brothers are benign philanthropists. Not forgetting anti-vaxxers that know more about medicine than doctors with a medical degree because they read something online. Last those that believe that the World was created in 4004 BC because a book from the Bronze age said so & can't accept that Noah's flood was plagiarised from the epic of Gilgamesh which itself was not the original story.
