  1. It was a huge mistake either hubris or failure of judgement to entertain the idea that Biden deserved a chance of 4 more years hence a reason Harris lost. The Democratic leadership should have told Biden in the first months of his presidency you are only getting 4 years & we have to pick a successor now.

The flaw with Thatcher & May is that they both professed a religious/Christian upbringing & yet displayed a complete absence of compassion plus believe that the poor were the architects of their own misfortune thus undeserving of help. Thatcher hated the unions with a passion, she engineered the Miner's strike & outwitted Scargill completely. her governments were the roots of the gig economy, housing booms & stock market crashes due to "free market economics".

Someone else has already suggested the Thomas & Alito could resign from SCOTUS & be replaced by 2 40-ish Lenord Leo picks to serve for another 30-40, entrenching the right-wing/conservative balance on the Supreme Court. That would hobble any future Democrat president unless they do what Biden refused to do & expand the court to 13 or 15 justices.

  5. Only an idiot believes that a US trade deal wouldn't be one-sided in the US's favour. Labour has such poor leadership in relation to the EU. When I was unemployed I faced ageism, employers offering very poor wages. Support from the Job Centre was poor - they never found one job for me: it was mostly stick not carrot. Labour don't have press secretaries or a communications dept.. If they do they are getting paid to do a very bad job. Heathrow 3rd runway is a joke! Ready by 2035 I don't think so.

  16.  @phil4162  No longer. The Tories put their friends in control. BBC both sides most stories. The home page has half the stories that would be in Hello magazine. Few of the reporters are old school with integrity. They love Farage ( he was on Radio 4 again today) and they treat all stories critical of Israel as antisemitic.

  17. It was under Thatcher that the head-bangers & "true believers" started to influence policy that dragged the party to the right & Euroscepticism, free-market economics, deregulation and to undermine the welfare-state & the NHS ( i.e. tax breaks on private health insurance for the well off)

  19. Try being unemployed where all the benefits you can claim as a single person does not pay all you bills & rent and leaves £5 a week for food only when the heating is not on. Then tell me that you won't be depressed as only help is pills from the doctor that did not help.
