@preciousplasticph I would much rather eat coarse filtered honey than that boiled and multi-filtered rubbish we get here in Australia.

@JustAnotherBuckyLover Mmmm, don't think I said it was fake. I said it was boiled and multi-filtered rubbish. I prefer coarse-filtered honey. I don't mind getting the odd bee leg in my honey.

@JustAnotherBuckyLover Unless you were talking about my first comment, in which I was referring to honey that has had sugar syrup or other adulterants added. I have crappy teeth, so don't actively add sugar to my food. I use liquid malt or pure honey. Honey with sugar syrup gives my exposed nerves curry, whereas pure honey does not.

@JustAnotherBuckyLover No worries. I should have prefaced my comments with, 'My opinion is...' FWIW, I get raw, local honey from the apiarist for $8 Australian ($5.20 US) for 540gms (1.2 lb).

@richardmeyer4406 Hey, Richard. I stopped buying honey from supermarkets a while back. I try to get mine from local producers. I recently found one not far from home that I intend buying from for the foreseeable future. Cheers.

@annwithaplan9766 Manuka Honey has an interesting history. The name is from New Zealand and is Trademarked. Australia has Meluca Honey, another trademarked name. Both companies produce honey from bees that harvest from Melaleuca alternifolia. The shrub/tree is better known as 'Tea Tree' in Australia and is the plant that real Tea Tree oil is produced from. Honey sourced from M. alternifolia has been shown to have anti-oxidant and anti-microbial properties. It also has several traits found in tea-tree oil such as antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic properties. Raw honey from any source usually has some of those benefits, but not all.

I can tell the difference. Fake honey aggravates the exposed nerves in my teeth, whereas pure honey doesn't.
