They took four family members , two of which are toddlers born here in Australia, from their home in a town in Queensland and sent them to Christmas Island, where they have remained and will remain indefinitely. This arrest is not right, but it's also not abnormal for allegedly corrupt politicians to order.

I grew up in the days of Joh and The Nationals in Queensland. The current LNP coalition is strikingly similar to the Petersen regime.

Better comment to get this trending some more.

@cormoran2303 Yep. Quick story. In 2011, my soulmate and I were living in FNQ. She was diagnosed with brain cancer. She was flown from the remote town to a major city. Next day she was flown to another city with better cancer facilities. Next day, I was flown on priority from the remote town to the city she'd been flown to. I stayed in the hospital for 2 nights myself, albeit on a couch in the quiet room but they didn't kick me out. When relatives arrived we were accommodated in an apartment at a heavily discounted rate (govt subsidised). After her op we were flown back home. ALL of the treatment and transport was free. I love where I live.

David (EDIT: Scott) needs to have a good cry. It might make a man of him.

If the LNP is elected this year, I will move to UnZud. Or go and hide in the rainforest of Far North Queensland until the bulldozers come.

Sadly, we Queenslanders are a bunch of Facebook addicted braindeads. We ned controversy and drama to counteract the paradise we live in. I mean, who wouldn't want to live in the coal capital of Australia while watching the reef turn white and the forest turn to dirt.

I rent a patch of dirt on one of the last rural zoned blocks in the Mango Hill area of northern brisvegas. I've been here five years and have watched staged development on the Western side of the property. It is exactly as Jordan explained. I didn't realise that was why certain areas were left undeveloped for a year or more, other than the roads, water, sewage, and power lines that were constructed. Trickle-fed development. Sadly, the 20 hectare block I'm on (septic and rain water tanks because we're on the other side of the road from the development) was sold and the new owner has applied for a rezoning to build 62 housing units on the few hectares of usable land. In a few years, the following animals will lose their current bush habitat that I'm also lucky enough to live in: Long nosed Potoroos. Koalas. Wallabies. Pythons. Other snakes. Lace Monitors. And about 10 or more different bird species.

Is Justin Hemmes, Corey Worthington's secret brother? His fashion sense is eerily similar.

Well, I'm 2:40 in and I didn't expect to last that long. My respect for K-Rudd waxes and wanes and (sorry Kev) I find him a little boring. But I think I'll watch all of this. I'm sure Jordie will bring out a Kevin I haven't seen before.

I went looking for the Retweet button when I read this.

When relatives arrived we were accommodated in an apartment at a heavily discounted rate (govt subsidised). After her operation. we were flown back home. ALL of the treatment and transport was free. Further, we were also granted more money from welfare (I couldn't work anymore while caring for her) and as a result of that, got free transport back to the city where her family when her health deteriorated. I love where I live.

I wait with bated breath my friend. I'm going the Labor alignment spin combined with no mention of the wheelbarrow other than when he whined about bruz. EDIT: Holy shit, I read the article they got BINGO!

Bugger you, Jordan...in the gentlest, nicest way you like it. I have had dogs in my life for my entire 59 years. I currently have two big puppers. A moment and her biggest son. At one point in my life, my soulmate and I had 23 dogs, from pups to adults, on a 50-acre property we rented. I haven't watched to the end but I'm on board for the giant dog training and rescue property thing. I'm povvo, but I'd like to help in any way possible. Puppehs!

Heads up. I smoke medicinally (cue the drug war puritan comments). And I drive (hello QLD Police monitoring these comments). In 30+ years, I've never had an accident and have passed three roadside drug tests (no, I won't tell you how). Having said that, I am quite happy to wear the consequences if I ever test positive. I refuse to lie in a feeble attempt to deny my transgressions. I smoke pot. That is all.

G'day from a NotPRGuy.

@My-cat-is-staring-at-you My bad. Early morning brain. I meant, 'Scott'...

Joyful times we have. Two down, but there's more out there.
1
I would never suggest that the MAFS/Rudd like ratio has anything to do with the attention spans of some folk. Fifty-one minutes with Rudd could pose a challenge to some, especially if they somehow found their way here after watching MAFS.

Jordan is back and he's on fire! Ooops, sorry....

Poor old Johnny Barrel.

Pure Gold!

The DT has a Paywall. Fucked if I'm paying to read trash journalism. I'll take the Jordie view.
1
I voted early. I don't give a long flying fuck how the system works. I had six choices, so I went Green, Labor, Independent, Shooters/Fishers, LNP, One Nation. They're all pretty damned useless against the mass media and corporations, but I had to vote .
1
@sdpearshaped831 Yep. In Murrumba at least. In QLD they're the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party.
1
Yep, JJJ is a bullshit station. However, a YouTuber desperately looking for content by roasting a shit radio station is far, far worse. Stick to what you're good at, mate. You know, exposing bullshit politicians.
1
Quimby. Homer has a heart.
1
I'm a Boomer, but I'm fucking awesome. I'm broke and for all intents and purposes homeless although employed, but I'm still fucking awesome. Oh, and what the fuck is a 'Franking Credit'?
1
Yep, but the fucker is doing it to avoid a state-based ICAC investigation. I don't wanna bloat your ego, but man, I'm SURE your research had a lot to do with Gladys' stepping down and 'Bruz' leaving State politics. You have done far more than any accredited journalist has had the balls to do. I'll stop fanboying now. But thanks, mate.
1
But of course you would. Because you're Friendly and Jordies...

5:25 (I've paused) What. The. Actual. Fuck. My very first impression, as a crusty 60 year old was, "someone has morphed the creature from the black lagoon with Sheldon J. Plankton and a minion"...
1
I'm 5:55 in and have liked it and I am enjoying the nostalgic memes. They remind of the days when I was young enough to not give a flying fuck about politics. On another note, Thanks Jordie. You have brought up recessed memories from the early 80s you C u in the NT arsehole.

Fk'n Gold Aunty Shelley.

I've watched 2 of your recaps, Jordan and thank you. I egotistically consider myself a somewhat tolerant human/old fart. I listen to 4zzz. I'm Green (an old hippy) and I make sure I keep myself informed about what's going on around our planet. But I don't watch commercial television or any of the streaming services. Having watched your recaps, I just can't fathom why the fuck anyone could sit through half an hour (or is it an hour?) of this utter cringefest of what can only be loosely described as 'Reality TV'. I thought 'The Block' and 'MKR' were bad (yep, I've seen some commercial through morbid curiosity). But this? This is wrong on so many levels. Please, keep up the recaps because it helps reinforce my conviction to avoid mainstream commercial media if at all possible. And may the spirits of comedy continue to command your soul. The recaps are Gold.
1
Thank you. This is the only way I can stomach anything of MAFS. It's just fucking bizarre!
1
@dellingson4833 That depends on which section of the reef you're looking at.
1
@Alex_Reid When I lived in Far Nth Queensland, the 26th of January was just another day to have off and get on the piss. Sometimes a local band might have a jam at the Lion's Den (35km away). M8 Day sounds as good as any date to me.
1
@benschram A most excellent time for bonfires though.
1
I was growing up when Don Chipp, the god of the Greens, promised to "...keep the bastards honest...". As a result, I voted for the Greens right up until Natashia got dumped. It was around then that the Party imploded and became one of those bastards. I am nearly 60, and I think I'm at the point where I want to register as a Conscientious Objector (again) and get myself removed from the Electoral Roll (again). There is no major political party in Australia that I could honestly trust. That's why I became a member of the 'Legalise Cannabis Party'. At the very least, if they get some influence in legislation, I may no longer be a victimless criminal.
1
Annnnd he avoids ICAC... fuck him.
1
Buzzfeed? Oh yeah, they're that cutting edge news mob that showed us how Americans hate any food other than Maccas.
1
You're right. A mocumentary, based on actual events and interviews, would be far funnier than this cringefest. I do feel sorry for the actors who got suckered into 'starring' in this though.
1
You made a mistake. ScoMo cares for football, yes. But he also cares more the Hillsong cult and 'The Rapture'.
1
Fifty-Seven. Pulled the 20 grand out of my super so I could keep living in the broken-down bus I live in on someone else's property. Spent it on overdue bills, rent, food, camping equipment in case I got evicted and became homeless, and a fair bit of bourbon and beer.
1
I'm the opposite of the Redgum song. I've never been, and never intend to go to Bali, or any part of those SE Asian tourist lands. I had a good enough time in far north Queensland in the early 80s.
1
What's this bullshit? I am waiting for the new series of Farmer Wants A Wife to air.
1
Who the fuck is Jim Malo? Do I live under a rock? Do I completely ignore commercial mass media? Is Jim heir to Waleed and/or Joe's throne as biggest dick/s on TV?
1
Done, because trees.
1
Old, jaded fucks like me gave up on mainstream print media years ago. As for commercial TV. I can't remember the last time I watched it. Shit, I don't even Netflix, because I have Bittorrent. And politics? The collective noun for a group of politicians is a 'Corruption'.
