That lug nut (or wheel nut as some of us Aussies call them) issue is pretty shocking. Is there any prevention method other than buying decent lug nuts? Oh, it is always heartwarming to see a mechanic using a torque wrench on lug nuts. I am my own mechanic and own two torque wrenches. They should be a part of any wrench geek's toolkit.

@onefastboi14 Thanks, mate. It's at least good to know that there are replacements for them. However, given that there were two Fords in the workshop with the same issue, you'd think Ford would actually do something about it...but we are talking about vehicle manufacturers so I guess we can't expect that sort of miracle. Thankfully my old Ford crew cab has light truck rims and real wheel/lug nuts.
