  1. These phone scams have been around for a looong time. I remember playing with one years ago, until they realised I was leading them on and they hung up. It was the "you have a viruses on your combuter" scam. I learned a long time ago to hang up on callers claiming to be from an official department in Australia but had a strong Indian accent. And as the years went by, and mobile phones became 'essential', I adopted the policy of not answering private numbers, or unknown numbers, and of course, ignoring suspect messages or emails. It seems that as I get older (I'm 59) the messages and calls increase. Data mining companies have a lot to answer for.
