An 'Aortic Aneurysm' is often referred to as a 'Broken Heart'. These aneurysms occur most often during times of extreme emotional stress and or grief.

A lot of comments are discussing the problem of keeping wild animals in a domestic environment and blame a lack of 'nature' as the cause of this chimp's sudden change in nature. Perhaps it is more correct to suggest that the chimp had reached late teens/adulthood and as within the wild, this animal was attempting to assert its dominance and protective instincts over the rest of its family. The animal was (in my undereducated opinion) asserting dominance over its territory.
