  1. Many, many years ago (the 1970s) my father came up with an idea to get cats out of our yard. He bought a rat trap, drove a nail from the bottom of the trap through the board so that about 2cm poked out the top. The idea was that when the cat went to eat the bait the trap would hit it on the nose, sending its jaw down onto the nail, piercing the cat's underjaw. It worked. He lost the cat trap. I'm assuming the cat went home and the cat owners got a gift of a rat trap from their cat. Our cat problem stopped.
