Sorry, but all you keyboarders smashing on about this video not comparing other modern vehicles? Read the damned title! He's comparing two Prados. The new model to the previous. How plain can that be? A BYD or Defender or whatever has three parts of F All to do with the core topic of this video. Just. Pay attention ffs! FOCUS.

If it had an ICE option, I might buy one. Oh, and round headlights.

Because he's comparing two different year vehicles from the same maker as a comparison in terms value and improvements. Or weren't you paying attention to the entire premise of this video. Read the title, dude.

14:00 Given that these types of vehicles are driven by tradies who use them for work because they have no time to play, the on-road handling should be a major factor for this vehicle. Realistically, I can't see a serious off-grid four-wheel-driver picking this as their go-to ute for tackling rough terrain. A 1980s diesel Land Cruiser would be arguably more suited.

I'd buy a Mahindra and do a few mods to make it pretty for less money than a base Prado. And it will be a more robust vehicle.

@Well_Theres_Your_Problem They have produced a solid workhorse. Surprisingly, their initial launch in Australia back in the early 90s was a failure. That Jeep lookalike. But, they still work on farms in 2025, as you said. And mechanically, they're bulletproof.

9:10 I guess it's going to take some time for some of the 'Privileged' EV owners to realise that charging stations are the same as bowsers. That is, charge your car, pay, then "move ya bloody car!"

11:55 Did I hear that wrong? Did you allude to the idea that you'd rather be looking at a front view camera on a screen on the console, rather than looking at the track in front of you? Why? Is the camera mounted low so that you can see the track below the bonnet blind-spot when crawling up a track? If so, that would be brilliant for lining up your wheels on tricky, rutted tracks when you're driving solo. Beyond that, staring at the screen would just be dangerous. EDIT: The 13:00 mark appears to indicate that the front view camera isn't particularly useful for navigating tricky tracks. Oh, I would really love to chew the engineers' ears to figure out why the bonnet release lever is on the passenger side and not the driver side. Just a nit-pick.

@chasingcars I was going to ask the same question but figured it would be in the comments somewhere. Cheers.

@Well_Theres_Your_Problem LOLZ! Yeah, but you know what I'm getting at. A 39k Mahindra has rear locker as standard, and you can put a tray on it. Ladder chassis etc etc. The Ranger is out of its league, price-wise.

You've sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole. I am thinking that while an EV is practical for densely populated states like Victoria and NSW, it may (I have no real idea) be less practical for 900km trips in states such as WA and Queensland. I'm doing some searching for EV charging stations between Brisbane and Mackay, which is roughly 200km longer than the Melbourne/Sydney run.
