  1. The glacier was receding and melting due to climate change. Prior to the melting, the glacier extended further down the valley. The collapsing rubble from the fractured mountain would have tumbled down the glacier, rather than building up on the edge of the receding glacier, causing it to fail. Yes, the collapse was a result of climate change. Whether human-influenced, or part of nature, climate change is happening.
