It's sobering to think that medieval communities had almost industrial-level arrow and bow-making industries for war but couldn't figure out basic sanitation.

Little-known fact. It is harder for lice to glue their eggs to oily hair than dry hair. However, your hair must be clean, otherwise, the lice will attach their eggs to the dryish dirt in your oily hair. So, to help prevent head lice, wash your hair regularly with plain water in the shower but only wash your hair with shampoos when absolutely needed. Here endeth the lesson from the old fart.

@cleocatra9324 I reckon you're right on the money there, Cindy. I'm Australian but I have a passionate interest in the US healthcare system and the need for a responsible government over there to ensure free, universal healthcare for their people. Al it would take is a very small percentage of the defense budget to be moved to healthcare. Essential healthcare should NEVER be profit-driven. It should be a right.

@stephenjenkins7971 And how many of those 94% have free healthcare paid for by the government through taxes. I conflated nothing. You are confusing employer provided or private healthcare with free healthcare provided by the US government.

@williamlyons3947 An interesting thing about hair. Once you stop using oil dispersing shampoo, your scalp will take about 3 weeks to rebalance oil production. If you just wash your hair with warm water for a few weeks, yes, your hair will get oilier for a while. But then it reaches a balance and the excess oil production stops. Your scalp, if you're not working in dusty, oily, or otherwise gungy environments will maintain a balance. And washing with water or if needed a very mild shampoo, will help maintain that balance.

@firasjemil213 And what exactly is your point in context to my comment? WTF does that have to do with medieval times? Or are you just another Covid-denier who has no concept of the history of pandemics?

@stephenjenkins7971 Methinks you read the wrong comment. I replied to Cindy initially. All my replies have been in context with her comment. But hey, keep going.

@Jim-qz6vp It is sobering because we really haven't changed much as a species. We still devote more time and resources building weapons to fight each other with than we do on education and health. You'd think we'd have gone beyond that by now.
