  1. I live in Australia and in 1983 I had a serious car crash requiring transfusions and many operations. Some years later (I think it was around 1988 or so)the health department recommended that all people who had received blood tranfusions should get tested for HIV. I tested negative. However, there were a lot of nervous people around waiting to get tested.
