The way drivers avoided crashes like that is, they would rotate their heads right and left using neck muscles to point their eyes in the direction of possible oncoming traffic before proceeding across the intersection. It was and still is a very effective method of avoiding t-bone-type crashes. Yours sincerely, 95% of other drivers.
