That tree in the Daintree is a Strangler Fig. They start growing ina fork of a tree after a bird has passed the seed. As they grow, they send 'roots' down the outside of the host tree and eventually wrap around and strangle it. The now dead tree rots away leaving that latticework of what are now essentially multiple trunks of the Strangler Fig. The process takes many years and there are some spectacular examples in the forests. Do a search for the curtain fig, found up on the Atherton Tablelands. @midnightkitchen8379 There is a big market nowadays for multi-grafted citrus. Saplings are being sold with different branches that produce Oranges, Mandarines and other types of citrus. Very cool.
