A little history. Back in the 90s, lamb was one of the cheapest meats you could buy. I used to get it for about 1 dollar a kilo for entire side of lamb, cut into chops, roasts etc by the local butcher. That works out to about 20 dollars for roughly a month's worth of meat for a family. The board that oversees lamb sales and production decided that that wasn't good enough and embarked on an advertising campaign to increase the popularity of the meat. It started with, of all people, Tom Cruise. The ad campaign became super famous and lamb rocketed to the top of the popularity list (and cost). Nowadays, lamb is one of the most expensive regular meats you can buy in Australia. There are many, many classic lamb adverts. If you're interested, this is the first (I think) lamb ad that started the phenomenon: https://youtu.be/fH_Ar2h6Q-U And for another take on the ad, watch this one after you watch that first one: https://youtu.be/m3r33HmAfyo
