The 'foreign' cars entering the Bathurst races disappointed me as a kid. I hated the idea that they were moving away from strictly production vehicles. I never really appreciated the Jags and Nissans etc. but begrudgingly realised they were better engineered than a lot of our locally produced vehicles.

@shaneferris6742 Agreed, I remember being shattered when Dick jumped in a Sierra. That was the beginning of the end for me as a Bathurst watcher for a long time. I come from a time when I used to talk (13 year old annoying someone really) to Dick Johnson while he and his mates were prepping his Blue 2-door at Lakeside with a tarp as a floor and a glorified marquee as a roof.
