My soulmate and I lived out of a 60 series Landcruiser wagon (early 80s model) for 4 years or more. It was a brilliant vehicle. Up North where I call home, a 3WD is a pretty common family vehicle because you need something a bit tougher than your family sedan.

Yep, the snorkel is a factory option. Most Australian sold 4WDs have a snorkel option. My old 60 series...it died a less than graceful death due to rust issues those models had. We lived on a beach for quite some time. Anyway, my 60 series Landcruiser wagon had the old 2H diesel and a snorkel. I put extensions on the axle breathers so that they were above wheel height It was a great old rig while it lasted. I bought it in around 2007(?) and put it to rest in a paddock up North in 2012. It has some stories to tell.

Damn, I missed this and the UnZud one! I better watch both. The Ram. Nice vehicle. I feel sorry for you folks not having a wide choice of 4WDs. We have a huge choice over here from small ones like the Daihatsu Feroza (I have a '2' model that I got for free) up to your beastie size Rams etc. Mahindras, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota, Ford, Holden just to name a few brands. The new model Mahindras are pretty good, tough vehicles. They come standard with full ladder chassis, rear diff locks, an Eaton transmission and a winch for under 40K Australian.

@peterflynn2111 Well yeah, but they're badged. I remember when Toyota was rebranding Commodores and tweaking the ECUs just to make them a little more torquey and called them Lexcens. That was weird. And Nissan rebadging Ford utes. I could get pedantic and say, "Hey, what about the Overlanders?" when it comes to Holdens, but yeah, just about every 4WD Holden is a rebadged Isuzu :)

@peterflynn2111 Yep, but really only the chassis. The suspension and drivetrain were all a mix of stuff, some of it specifically for the Overlander. I just did a Google and found the Adventra. But we won't talk about that one...best everyone forgets it existed, LOL.
