As much as the raw, angry, "LET ME LOOSE!", screaming wasp sound of these 10K+ RPM machines is just absolutely awesome, I still love the lumpy 'thrump' of a big V8 with a lumpy cam that rocks the body of the car as it turns over. That deep 'thrump...thrump...thrump' is just wonderful. There is an FJ Holden in Brisbane (I've only seen it once) with some big jigger of a cammed-up V8 that sounds just ... mean. You know, the kind of engine that at idle, almost bunny-hops the car forward as it turns over. EDIT: Not a spam but if you want to get an idea of the sound I'm trying to describe, check this out.
