  1. Tornados are quite common in Australia. However, due to our sparse population, they generally don't affect populated areas. My sister lives at Burrum Heads, on the coast of Queensland near Hervey Bay and they got hit by a tornado some years ago. A neighbours roof half destroyed their home.
