I know there is a lot of contention over where John Denver was singing about when he and his co-writers penned, 'Take Me Home, Country Roads', but every time I see something about West Virginia (not Virginia), that song invades my head. My mother was mad for JD until she found out he was a pot smoker. She was from a different era.

  4. People who live in so-called 'civilised' towns and cities seem to live in a bubble. I've lived in quite a few different places around Australia my life, and the one thing I've learned is that the further you get away from densely populated places, the nicer people become. Honesty and integrity have more value than your salary, or how nice your motorcar or home is. People actually respect and support each other, and welcome strangers with openness. And all we/they expect is the same integrity in return.
