  1. In the 1990s I was introduced to a bloke who had a Mandarine (and other fruits) farm near the coast around Yeppoon in Queensland, Australia. This guy had been using mineral rock to improve the soil, supportive ground covers to retain moisture and improve the soil...and, he introduced a tiny native wasp that attacked fruit fly and other 'pest' insects. As a result, his fruit was certified organic and had no blemishes, and personally, his mandarines were the juiciest and most flavoursome of any other mandarine I'd tasted up until then. Natural crop protection is easy to implement.
