  1. Martin H, Nauru was once the richest nation per capita on the planet. Almost the entire island was mined for its Phosphate, but the riches vanished. Nowadays the country receives aid and payments from Australia for hosting an off-shore detention centre. However, it's not much money. Sadly, Nauru is not much of a place for tourists.
