I think the problem most people face is that, outside of Law Enforcement, a Criminal Justice degree is just too broad. However, it can be a stepping stone. I got an AS in Criminal Justice and then got a BS in Forensic Science with a concentration in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I use all 4 degrees.

@juicejuicy Yes! I work as a chemical forensic analyst for my state's DEA.

@juicejuicy Including the training, about 6 years

@ハローキティ3-s8x It can be. One of the aspects of the job is going to court, and your report could mean all the difference between a guilty and innocent verdict. I would say day to day it's not as stressful, mainly because your usually spending your entire workday on one project. For example, I spent 9 hours just on a evidence packing a single pair of boots. I think the sensitivity of the work and going to court is what scares people.

@alphacharm Absolutely! You don't have to do certification to be an expert witness. There are plenty of fields of forensics where you rarely, if ever, go to court.

@jansonciereszko4968 For most jobs, a degree in Forensic Science is definitely preferred!

@sigsauer_firearms Its my state's drug division. We just call it the DEA because we do a lot of the same field work, just on a state scale as opposed to a federal one.

@jansonciereszko4968 Not necessarily, but it definitely helps and is what I would recommend.
