  1. This is Russia's 9/11. As living standards go down, support for war goes up. Putin knew we wouldn't be able to sit back and do nothing, and anything NATO does will be seen as an act of aggression by Russians drinking the same media juice Americans and British citizens did after 9/11 to justify going into Iraq.. Putin knows what he's doing.
