  1. He studied UAE security strategy...UAE has no reason to piss off the UK like this. So i d say, assuming everyone s been rational, he must have done something intolerable to the UAE government. UK has deniability of course. But it s unlikely that this guy is an ordinary phd student and the UAE just wants to piss off the UK for the sake of it
