  1. Its raison d'etre has always been the same since inception though: gateway to China. The snobbishness or at worst racism of many hongkongers towards Chinese and other Asians is notorious and ludicrous when u consider the context and their own background. Plus, it represents the worst of Asia: souless, merchatile, shallow, materialistic, disregard for the poor, loud and noisy. Its police force though is no doubt the best in Asia, thanks to the Brits!
