  2. Simon Jenner: what made u say that? How long have they been doing it? Where? What population stats do u hhave? I know info ist scarce. But it s common knowledge that ethnic chinese are exempt from the 1 child policy unlike the rest. Over 30 or 40 years that s got to make a big difference in relative population growth? And u say they ve been cleansing for a long time. Are they just not very good at it?

  4. Simon Jenner : yes. That natrative however fits any sizable country that includes multiple ethnic and cultural strands, historical and modern. The other side of that is the equally dangerous (as dangerous as Imperialism) concept of ethnic/cultural purity. We are constantly veering one way or the other depending on political expediency...the right thing to do is balance, IMHO. Coming back to the narrower topic of ethnic cleansing, do you know of any reliable demographic studies on tibetans and other major ethnic groups (e.g. uyghur or hui)? I dont like narratives as they are seductive and dangerous. But numbers provide some objective means of getting to the truth. But google search seems to bring out big growth in the last 60 odd years for these, as indeed for the Han Chinese themselves. But also accusations of fraud and politically tainted statistics! Any credible demographic studies u heard of by any chance?

Now, curiously, uygur terrorist acts have stopped in China, following the implementation of the policies. Cause and effect. Cause and effect. Instead the copycat actions (trucks and passenger cars used as weapons against innocents, mass knife attacks) have cropped up in the West. Coincidence?

  11.  @DamonGarfield  Time will tell. IMHO, Chinese are uniquely unruly and inventive when it comes to defying rules and laws. So far AT least from travelling for 3 Weeks there in Aug/Sep, they seemed to appreciate the order and level playing field that it in theory brings. But only time can tell as it gets implemented.

Btw, i think both China and US are great nations with great people. And i think both are smart enough to compete and cooperate at the same time, peacefully.

  15. This IS a job interveiw people. Dont forget. No need to lose your humanity over this. I believe both of them are sincere and telling the truth as they have remembered it. I believe some of the politicians supporting him in the hearing are human scum. I believe he did do a lot of pratish things to women when young as most young men did. It s not a crime but i believe he ist not suitable for the job.

That s all. I m not one to take anti-China rhetoric at face value. The macro statistics over so many decades just dont bear the narratives out. But the Chinese governement doesn't Make it easy for people to disprove those narratives either...

  28. Stephen Faust : lots of assumptions there. I think u r the one focusing on just one side. No Chinese i met ever deny that they have a lot of problems, poverty, corruption, social welfare/justice, amongst the most popular, basically common 3rd world problems. I would bet that the interviewed guy would be no different. What i find bizarre is that there r so many people like u, who try extemely hard through lots of mental gymnastics to maintain a really unrealistic position that flies in the face of lots of contrary data.

  29. Law19157 : there is no doubt that the US system is superior. But to say Chinese have no human rights is absurd. What u mean is that they dont have certain rights customary in many other countries. The Do have more rights than many other countries also. And certianly more than 50 or 30 or 20 years ago.
