It s funny that even during the campaign when he was doing his famous "China" bombs daily his poplarity was already high in China. I think even enemies appreciate straight talking over condescension. The Obama/Hilary duo just didnt get that. Even people who respected them could not feel respect back from them.

Not many know that the CPC has actually molded its development and governance model according to the Singaporean example. Not many still remember the 80s and 90s when Singapore was under constant criticism for its authoritarianism and lack of liberal democratic freedom. Now it is much richer and but its politics only slightly less illiberal. But money talks and people have stopped criticising the Singaporean model.
