I think it's Russia who blew the pipes, Nord stream 1 wasn't an economical move it was geopolitical, it was originally conceived to cut transit fees for gas flowing through Ukranine. At the time 95% of gas from Russia to Europe flowed through Ukranian pipelines. After finding more gas further north Russia claimed it would be cheaper to build the pipeline under the Baltic sea directly to Germany for supply, 15 years later it's now known to be untrue and was used to limit revenue to Ukraine, this was thought out several years before the annexation of Crimea! 10 years of supplying of gas to Europe has created enough revenue so that destroying these pipes is not a financial loss! The Nord stream 1 has served its purpose and was never going to be used again! As for how is was destroyed, Google pipeline pigging as I think this is the way they did it, remotely controlled vehicle that's designed to travel the pipes for maintenance! And they work if it's pressurised or not! I think when divers/ remote vehicles get down there they will be able to tell that the pipe was exploded from the inside! As for the reason, who knows, but since it was done the same time the new Norway to Poland pipeline was opened, this may have a bearing!
