Putin is patriot and he want to secure Russian border. Putin said 2008 that bringing Nato to Ukraine is red line. De facto, Nato is threat to Russia. And why Nato want to surround Russia even they promised them 1991 that they dont bring Nato inch more to east. Ukraine war is US made proxy war against Russia. Remember that Ukraine war start 2014 after USA made coup in Kiev. 2014 - 2021 Ukraine killed 14 000 ethnics Russians, 2500 were children. Eastern part of Ukraine are part of old Russia and those ethnics Russians have lived there before there was Ukraine state.
