Ask a trans advocate sometime: If a 10-year old identifies as a 40-year old, should we also call them and treat them like one? Their answer, whether yes or no, will reflect the reason we shouldn't call people women solely on the basis of their identifying as such.

@djdrogs Can you answer the question I posed in the original comment? Because just dismissing it as a straw man (which, it isn't, because I didn't say/suggest you would do it) doesn't make it any less disturbing when you dodge the question. As for why I oppose transgenderism, there are multiple reasons: 1. It's an incoherent worldview, and I believe truth has inherent value. 2. There's a push to control how others speak or run their business, etc. in accordance with it. and admittedly a distant 3 would be concern for trans people themselves. It obviously isn't easy on them living out this worldview they cannot defend logically (either to themselves or others). And frequently, they're even told that all the people who disagree with that worldview somehow hate them personally, no doubt contributing to their high suicide rates.

@anonnymous4684 Unfortunately just dismissing the question or labeling it "idiotic" does nothing to rebut the point.

And it's also kind of disturbing that no one's willing to simply say "No, I wouldn't treat a 10-year old exactly like a 40-year old just because they identified as one".

@anonnymous4684 Again, that's just dismissing the argument. In the meantime, it remains clear that there is no fundamental difference between calling someone a woman solely based on their self-identification and calling someone a 40-year old on the exact same basis.

@lavienestpasunlongfleuvetr2559 Because they're men. Identifying as x doesn't make you x.
