"(record scratch)" Hey! Not cool! This brings back painful memories of a DJ I used to know. I AM DEEPLY OFFENDED! You fail at being woke. Try again.

@CourtneyHaynes So if I just removed the exclamation points, you'd side with me? Interesting.

@CourtneyHaynes Nonsense. You compared my approach with the lady in the video, who you thought it was important to point out was "calm". So I'll ask you again: is it just that I wasn't calm enough? Shouldn't people be obligated to change how they talk on the basis of my being offended, same as this lady saying that the greeting "Hey guys" is offensive?

@CourtneyHaynes "I was referring to your use of "I AM DEEPLY OFFENDED!" in bold and caps to describe her argument." I did no such thing (so much for me being the one building straw men!) "And the fact that you misrepresent her to this extent is why I have concluded that you are not calm and are going off emotions rather than reason." Well I didn't, so you really don't have a case here. But as to the "reason" you seek, behind this family of taking offense is the idea of inclusivity. And it remains true that the possibilities are endless in terms of just what can be asked (with the implication that it's expected) of you to change about the way you speak. Why not strike all mention of records scratching from our speech, if it would help folks like me feel more included (and less alienated)? Now, again, do you agree, or are you drawing the line somewhere before that? And if you are, what is the fundamental difference between my request and the request being made in the video? "furthermore, she has not said anyone is "obligated" to change. The video is meant as something to think about." Not true. The title itself says we should stop saying "Hey guys". And this being no practical matter, that "should" is very obviously a moral one.
