@narconyx You're exposing part of the problem here: You think that questioning/disagreeing = bullying. Maybe we should teach kids instead that A. It isn't bullying/hate for someone to disagree with you, and B. You can cope with these feelings and events in a much healthier way. Trans people are still 18 times more likely to commit suicide even if they have the surgery, and there's no evidence to show a significant decrease in areas where it's more widely accepted. Another problem with your solution is that it then leads to the legalization of child sexual abuse. If they are to be treated as an adult, then any grown man can be in a sexual relationship with them, under the premise that they're actually an adult (and if you say otherwise you're a -phobe of some kind). And of course we know such a thing could and would be overused. Any kid would love to have all the same rights and privileges as adults, whether they're prepared to have them or not. And so you'd see the number of trans-age (or whatever) kids skyrocket, and again, you'd be dismissed as a hateful bully if you dared to question any of it. Also, I notice you skipped over the scenario of a white man identifying as black. Any particular reason?

Gender and biological sex are one and the same. That's why the roles we're expected to play solely on the basis of our biological sex are called "gender roles". It would also help any person who believes x (no matter how false) if we agreed with them that x was true. And it's also incredibly simple to do. And yet, time and time again, when I ask a trans person or advocate whether they'd call a white man black or a child an adult (if they so identified), I typically get a resounding "No". "I find it strange that people argue over such things rather than accord someone respect and humanity." And I find it strange that you think disagreeing = disrespecting, or that it's somehow denying them their humanity.

@narconyx But you can see how the same kind of rhetoric often thrown at us (people who disagree with transgenderism) could be thrown at you. You wouldn't let a child (who you'd be expected to call an adult, if such a movement were to take off) enter into a sexual relationship with a grown man. This could be reported by the media or others as you not acknowledging trans-age rights or even being hateful of trans-age people. And there wouldn't be any way to defend yourself against that without appealing to science and observation, by way of pointing out how they're a child even if they identify as or feel like an adult. This is where we, who disagree with transgenderism, find ourselves concerning the present-day trans movement.

I don't think any of the things on your list necessarily indicate that Trump is opposed to homosexuality/transgenderism. Still, there's a difference between regulating an abnormal hormone issue and deciding to toy with it when there's no actual danger. Altering the body because the mind has adopted a worldview that doesn't stand up to scrutiny is just never a good idea.

@katiepert7746 See again, this is a confusion with gender roles/norms and gender itself. But sex and gender have always been interchangeable. This is the very reason why the roles we're expected to play solely on the basis of our biological sex, are called "gender roles" to begin with.

@erisi6204 It's all relative. But is that all you're disputing? I should think the idea that they're openly admitting they don't know how the puberty blockers will affect the brain and development would be the most important point...

@erisi6204 Maybe, maybe not, depends on the person. But we should tell parents the truth if we don't know how it's going to affect their kid. Not to mention that this is all to accommodate a completely incoherent and inconsistent worldview to begin with.

@erisi6204 It's the worldview behind why they want to do it, that I'm saying is inconsistent (as well as incoherent). Namely how we're obligated to call a man a woman because they identify as such (that's literally the only reason), but that's the only group of people we do that with. If a white man identifies as black, he's simply wrong. If an adult identifies as a child, there's something wrong with their thinking. But a man identifying as a woman or vice versa, not a problem!

@erisi6204 How exactly does "science recognize gender"? What study are you referring to? Could you summarize its findings or give a link? Also, how do you explain away the people who got the "transition" surgery and then regretted it? And why is it that most kids with gender dysphoria actually grow out of it? The problem with labeling the concession "showing decency" brings us back to the inconsistency of this worldview, though. Would you not "show decency" by calling a white man black or calling a child an adult if they so identified? What about treating them as such?

@erisi6204 Nope. I don't hate trans people, don't fear them, don't dislike them or hold any prejudice against them. I simply disagree with the worldview for the reasons I've explained. And you can't defend their worldview so you resort to name-calling.
