  3. Good wine in Australia is expensive by world standards. The average wine sold to the locals is mass produced slop with fancy labels and that'll still set you back $20-$30 a bottle. The winery experience was at its zenith in the 1970s where you could drive around all day and get free tastings... yes actually free. Nowadays you have to pay a premium for tastings and its highly corporatised and franchised. The modern winery visitor centres have no character at all and all look the same.

  5. Cool climate wine = generally white wines Warm climate = generally red wines there are some exceptions such as Pinot Noir
