@Batterybus it's really not. it doesn't create anything, nor does it "know" what's it is doing. it is a program. and it simply mashes together what humans have created (and is on the internet) and regurgitates it through a filter. the filters are getting better, which makes the output appear more natural and less like a machine. you could argue what humans do is pretty similar. and that's likely true for the majority of daily life. but it's nothing like human, and it's not profound. the only danger is in people being fooled by it.

@rtflone it's literally impossible for it to think. I enjoy sci-fi too.

every single thing/action in existence is trade-off. no free lunch, as they say.

it's funny how much it's being talked about it. I can see some useful applications for sure. and the biggest danger is people being fooled by it. but it's just a program. there is nothing profound going on, or sentient life being created. it's all a bunch of hogwash for clicks. but don't be mistaken, govts will use this an opportunity to drum up fear. and of course they'll require more of your money and compliance to keep you "safe" from the new boogeyman AI! lol

@rtflone there may be human created terminators in our future.

so-called "AI" doesn't think for itself either. if you really believe that, you have a very low bar for what you consider thought.

@LogicSpeaks I think you're entirely correct about the artists being put out. there will always be a market for human created... everything. but it will shrink considerably. "AI" will never be inspired or have a thought to create something. yes, people are obviously influenced by what they've observed and consumed throughout life. but a program will never have an "a-ha!" moment. there is simply nothing there other than what's being fed into it. programmers every single day struggle with websites or application etc having "bugs." in other words, doing something not understood until they trouble shoot. now imagine you're a beginner programmer, and the lines of codes are constantly streaming in the internet fast than you can imagine... it's going to do things you don't understand. but it's not magic. it's not special. and finally, life inherently is based on a value structure. from the smallest lifeform to us, we are born with the ability to focus our energy toward a goal. computers, ai, are simply told what to do.

nah, you're believing the hype way too much. it's in no way even close to what you're worried about. It WILL be used by gov'ts to scare you into giving them more power and control, because only they can "protect" you from AI. lol
