@infamouselena979 "sustainability" is just another buzzword. If you build in traditional styles, the buildings function better and last longer. A well designed traditional structure needs less maintenance. The "progressive" mindset rejects beauty and wholesomeness. Ugly and grey are it's default setting in all facets of life. Humans desire beautiful things. It's good for overall wellbeing.

@AbstractEntityJ A "McMansion" isn't wasteful at all. If someone wants one, and has the money to buy one, who cares! Free people tend to aspire to have such things of their own. Now an ugly McMansion is unforgivable.

@ardius9777 In the United States malls are becoming a thing of the past, especially in cities run by the party that tolerates crime. The new trend is open shopping centers, where each store is separate. Completely different from how life, and the jam-packed malls were 50 years ago! New urbanism is a catch-all phrase, but in Texas, as millions move here from other states, and new developments are designed and built, they take on the feel of a small town, with homes, parks, and a "downtown" with shops and restaurants, and a supermarket. You might need a car to get to work, but once home, you can walk everywhere. It makes sense from every standpoint.

@secrets.295 Anything that isn't maintained becomes ugly. The problem with most "modern" architecture is it was born ugly, and if not maintained, becomes hideous! If older buildings are in disrepair, that's not the fault of design, but of the caretakers. Cities need standards. A minimum standard of exterior maintenance. In many places where ugly exists, you have high crime, homelessness is tolerated, and garbage is everywhere. Los Angeles and San Francisco, California are perfect examples of "progressive" rot.

Fun fact: The National Socialist Germans, the NAZIs, took all of their inspiration and policy ideas directly from the diseased "progressive" ideologies of the American Democrat Party. It's interesting that "progressives" worldwide are the first to label others what they actually are! The neat thing about Freedom and free markets, is you can't "force" someone into a lifestyle. Traditional architecture is cherished, desired. People would rather live in a traditional manner. Marxism requires society, unity, to be destroyed. As Abraham Lincoln noted, a society built on strong foundations is impossible to destroy. A building with a strong foundation is equally tough to destroy.

@jirislavicek9954 Well said! I live in Central Texas. I mention this because we have more Czech people here than any place on earth, outside the Czech Republic. A wonderful group of people. Hard working, industrious, and no-nonsense! They actively work to keep their Czech heritage alive.
