  1. Both India and Africa can blame their poverty on their leaders looking up to the Soviet Union as a model. Both African socialism (an ideology adopted by most of post-colonial Africa) and the License Raj is the result of them just copying the Soviet Union and calling it "social justice". The fact that Singapore became rich is because they didn't just take the Soviet economic model. In a world without the Soviet Union African and Indian poverty would've been concepts of the past. Indians and Africans have no one other to blame than themselves.

  3. ​ @terencetan9744 "India" was never a single country under the British, the British maintained over a thousand separate relationships with the Princely States that were protectorates and were semi-independent. There was no one model of British rule in India and Africa was likewise a patchwork of colonies and protectorates, a protectorate typically was administered through indirect rule.

Also, at most there were hundreds of White people in the entire colony, the colonisation of the Congo was not as bad as many make it out to be.
