Things like "Western medicine" are even worse, if the basis of modern medicine is science then it should be known as "scientific medicine", many Chinese distrust scientific medicine because it is "Western" and others trust Traditional Chinese medicine re-packaged in pills because "it appears Western", in Hanoi you can buy literal pills of snake oil which some people trust because they trust traditional Chinese medicine and others trust because they distrust "Western" / "French" medicine.
