I used to have a project helping poor people with someone else, Churches also help people with this and one day we went to a Church, I never talked to him about religion but it's kind of an unspoken rule that almost everyone in our Province is an Atheist and he told me that he's envious of religious people because while we Atheists don't believe in an afterlife or an inherent purpose of life, religious people are very hopeful. They don't fear death in the same way like we do, they have hope that they'll be re-united with their loved ones one day. He was correct, it is an envious position, but I would rather know an uncomfortable truth than believe an uncomfortable lie. When I asked my mother what she was expecting out of heaven her reaction was "I will be able to see my grand-mother again", I never met my great-grand-mother and know that I never will, but she is convinced that we'll all meet each other in the afterlife.

  2. I'm an Atheist who likes going to Church specifically because of the networks, I would prefer to have Atheist community centres like this, but I don't know of any like this so I am just going to Church to meet people.
