  1. The value of a state isn't that it coerces you from your private property, rather it coerces others to respect your private property. Of course, in reality theft isn't really something the police deal with, I have reported theft to the police and even when there sre cameras or in one case a written confession the police don't do anything. But theoretically this is why they exist.
