And Charlemagne even recreated his own "Holy" Roman Empire in the West based on old Roman laws mixed with Sallic Frankish laws and trying to rediscover old Roman technology and administration which is known as "the Carolinian renaissance". Also Western-Roman culture spread all the way to Scandinavia where previously only primitive tribes had lived that are only known to us as raiders (Vikingers) and traders today.
