You did this episode a disservice by not using Despicable Me, the evil minions there not only have their own motivations, their motivations later conflict with their evil overlord when he later decides to no longer be evil anymore. How he treats them also shows you what kind of a villain he is, he both knows all of their names individually and acts apathetic towards their suffering in some instances.
