  2.  @GrigRP  Because that is how the Greeks (Eastern Romans) used it, they used the terms "Franko" and "Latino" for Catholics, but as the latter was associated with the original Roman Empire they preferred "Franko" (a Germanic tribe) as it made Catholics appeared "lower".
