  2. England in the 17th, 18th century dealt with this sort of issue (fake food) specifically... bread. All sorts of harmful ingredients were added to bread to expand its volume, and increase its "whiteness". This all lead to less than adequate nutrition and a number of health ailments. I would be scared as hell if I lived in China and had to feed myself, or a family ! WOW !
