  1. Here in the state of Maine, specifically my back yard, we have ted and grey squirrels as well as chipmunk. The greys are strange, their numbers fluctuate quite considerably. One winter I counted over 12 of them by our bird feeder. The next winter there wasn't a single one! This season ive seen one or two. The red squirrel population hasnt seemed to fluctuate that much. There also seems to be more grey squirrels in residential/urban areas compared to their red counterparts. In the last 10 years there's also been an increase in the bobcat population, and they tend to feed on grey squirrels. I have pictures of multiple bobcat right in my yard.
